(HONG KONG, July 1) The dream of all Chinese people is to host the Olympic Games on the soil of China. This dream will be fulfilled next year when Beijing hosts the 2008 Beijing Olympic. Hong Kong, as a Special Administrative Region of China, will be the proud host of the Equestrian Events of the 2008 Olympic Games.
The “2008 Olympic Landscape Sculptures Contest” is organized by the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) with the aim to promote the Olympic Spirit and “Human Cultural Heritage”.The Sculptures Contest was launched on 8 August 2005, and 2,433 entries were submitted by artists from 90 countries. A total of 110 outstanding artworks were selected for a world-wide roving exhibition. The masterpieces have been displayed in Beijing, Seoul, London, Russia and Switzerland, and will be displayed in Hong Kong from 1 to 10 July 2007 before continuing their journey to Taiwan, Sydney, Athens and New York.
